Low back pain is a common condition that affects people of all ages and can be caused by a variety of factors. Some of the most common causes of low back pain include:

Lower back pain
  1. Muscle or ligament strain: This is the most common cause of low back pain. Straining of the muscles and ligaments in the lower back can occur due to lifting heavy objects, sudden movements or twisting.
  2. Poor posture: Sitting or standing for prolonged periods with poor posture can cause low back pain. This can be due to slouching or hunching over a computer or phone.
  3. Herniated or bulging discs: Discs act as cushions between the vertebrae in the spine. If one of these discs ruptures or bulges, it can cause pressure on the surrounding nerves, leading to low back pain.
  4. Spinal stenosis: This is a condition where the spinal canal narrows, putting pressure on the spinal cord and nerves in the lower back.
  5. Arthritis: Arthritis can cause inflammation and stiffness in the joints of the lower back, leading to pain and discomfort.
  6. Osteoporosis: This condition weakens the bones and can cause fractures in the spine, leading to low back pain.
  7. Sciatica: This is a condition where the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back down the legs, becomes compressed or irritated, causing pain and discomfort in the lower back and legs.
  8. Scoliosis: Scoliosis is a curvature of the spine, which can cause uneven pressure on the discs and nerves in the lower back, leading to pain and discomfort.
  9. Kidney stones: These hard deposits can form in the kidneys and can cause severe pain in the lower back and abdomen.
  10. Infections: Infections in the spine or surrounding tissues can cause low back pain, along with other symptoms like fever and chills.

It is important to consult a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment of low back pain, as the treatment may vary depending on the underlying cause of the pain.
